At Drive, we support adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs to live the life that matters to them. Our work is values-driven, person-centred and rooted in doing things well.

We are looking for a Governance Manager to join us in a key senior role, ensuring we remain safe, compliant and well-governed as we continue to grow.

The role

This is a pivotal role at the heart of the organisation, with responsibility for governance, regulatory compliance and data protection across Drive.

You’ll report to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services and work closely with our Board of Trustees and senior leadership team, playing a key role in how the organisation is run and how decisions are made.

You’ll lead on governance processes and Company Secretary support, ensuring Board and Committee activity runs effectively, while also acting as our Data Protection Officer and overseeing landlord compliance. Alongside this, you’ll bring together insight from complaints, compliments and stakeholder feedback to support learning and continuous improvement.

You’ll also lead a small team, manage a budget, and contribute to wider business planning – helping to create a culture where strong governance supports good outcomes for the people we support.

What you’ll do

  • Lead governance – coordinate Board and Committee processes, ensuring meetings, papers and decisions run smoothly
  • Ensure compliance – oversee regulatory requirements, returns, registers and governance records
  • Act as Data Protection Officer – embedding GDPR across the organisation and supporting colleagues to work safely and confidently
  • Oversee landlord compliance – ensuring we meet our responsibilities under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act
  • Turn data into insight – manage compliments, complaints and stakeholder feedback, producing meaningful reports for the Board
  • Strengthen how we work – coordinate policy reviews and governance processes
  • Work collaboratively – lead a small team, manage a budget and contribute to business planning across Drive

About you

You’ll bring experience of governance and working with Boards or senior leaders, alongside a strong understanding of data protection and regulatory compliance.

You’ll be confident managing a wide range of responsibilities – from Board processes and compliance requirements to reporting and organisational systems – and able to prioritise effectively.

You’ll also be someone who builds positive relationships, communicates clearly, and brings structure, clarity and integrity to your work, supporting others to do the same.

Most importantly, you’ll care about doing things well and share our commitment to high-quality, person-centred support.

Additional information

This role includes attending evening Board meetings (planned in advance) and travel across South Wales.

Why join us?

This is more than a governance role.

You’ll play a key part in shaping a values-driven organisation, where strong governance underpins everything we do.

We offer flexible and hybrid working, generous annual leave, and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
