Short Term Care

We provide a variety of options to support people to have a short break, giving individuals time away from family or carers and the opportunity for an independent holiday.

Short Term Care Accommodation

Drive owns a spacious, five bedroom Short Term Care House, set in a beautiful location in Brynsadler. It has a large garden where people can enjoy barbeques and relax in the sensory seated area.

There is a ground floor bedroom and five upstairs bedrooms, each individually decorated. Each bedroom has fitted furniture and a flat screen TV for relaxation and privacy. There is also a games room, and large lounge/diner for people who like to take meals together, listen to music together, or enjoy a film.

The ground floor room can be separated from the rest of the house if individuals wish to spend their time away from others. This part of the accommodation has adjustable profile bed complete with side rails, an electric hoist, a walk-in shower with a range of shower chairs available. It has its own living area with a sofa, tables, flat screen TV and DVD player.

Many individuals choose to book their stays to coincide with friends for a holiday together. Activities include going out for the day to a place they choose or exploring the local area, which has sports facilities, a variety of walks, and a good range of shops.

Plenty of opportunities are created to encourage people to increase their independence and learn skills while they stay with us. We support transition processes for people to increase their independence and move to shared supported living from their family homes, by giving an opportunity to take part in the running of the house, including shopping, preparing meals, and domestic tasks.

Short Term Care Service

A short break can mean an individual staying away from home overnight or for a few nights.

A short break can mean time to do activities away from home engaging in social or leisure activities such as attending a community group, going to the cinema or visiting friends.

Short breaks for people are designed to meet the needs of the individual and their family. Individuals choose when they would like to have a short break, and what they would like to do.

Drive can support individuals living with families with Short Breaks away from home, or provide support in the family home while carers have a holiday of short break. Staff also go on holiday with individuals or small groups of friends, at home or abroad.
